Bijli Mahadev

Placed at a height of 2460m  Bijli Mahadev, a sacred destination 14 Km to the south-east of Kullu and a 3 Km trek from Mansari Village or  access to the temple requires a 10 kilometer trek to reach to the top of the Mathan hill.

The prospect from Bijli Mahadev is enthralling with a panoramic view of the Kullu and Manikaran Valleys. It is a Favourite spot for  visitors and the local populace alike. you could also visit the Palani Fall which lies 6 Km to the north of Bijli Mahadev and is a popular picnic spot. If you visit the falls in March, take a stop at the fair which is held here annually during this month.

Bijli Mahadev Temple, kullu, himachalThe Bijli Mahadev Temple is truly an architectural marvel and is very well crafted. The entrance door consists of the stone statue of the Nandi bull that guards the temple. Every year during the Hindu months of Shravana, a fair is held in this temple. The temple offers a panoramic view of the Kullu and the Paravathi valleys and is nestled amidst the green Himalayas. The temple is situated at the hilltop and shines like a needle in the sun.

It is 14 km away across the Beas. The temple has a 20m staff on its top. It attracts lightning that breaks the Shivlinga installed in the Garbhgriha. The priest of the temple puts the broken pieces together with a mixture of butter and grain calledsathu. The Linga breaks again with lighting and the process goes on.
